Cheesecake Bars

⅓ cup margarine
⅓ cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1 cup all purpose flour
½ cup walnuts, finely chopped

¼ cup sugar
8 ounces cream cheese (softened to room temperature)
2 Tablespoons milk
1 Tablespoon lemon juice
½ teaspoon vanilla
1 egg


Preheat oven to 350°. 

In a small bowl, cream margarine and brown sugar until light and fluffy.  Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup, level off, then add flour and walnuts into cream mixture. 
Reserve one cup mixture for topping and press remainder of mixture into an 8 or 9 inch square pan. 
Bake at 350°, approximately 9 - 11 minutes or until golden brown. 

In a small bowl blend sugar and cream cheese until smooth. 
Add milk, lemon juice, vanilla, and egg; blend well. 
Spread over baked crust and sprinkle reserved mixture over the filling.  Bake at 350° for approximately 23 - 27 minutes or until golden brown. 

Let cool. 

Cut into bars and store in refrigerator.
