Five Hour Stew

DUNHAM CELLARS WINE CLUB - February 2014

FIVE HOUR STEW

INGREDIENTS:

• 3 lbs. stew meat
• 2 medium onions, chopped
• 1 cup celery, chopped
• 2 cups carrots, cut in 3" pieces
• 2 potatoes, cut in chunks
• 2 Tablespoons tapioca
• 1 can tomato soup
• 2 Tablespoons sugar
• 1 Tablespoon salt
• 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
• 1 1/2 Tablespoons ginger
• 3 cloves garlic, chopped
• 1 Tablespoon ketchup
• 2 Tablespoons Heinz 57 Sauce
• 2 cups cabbage, chopped (optional)

WINE PAIRING:

2010 Lewis Vineyard Syrah

COOKING INSTRUCTIONS: 

Preheat oven to 250 degrees. In a large oven safe pot mix sugar, salt and pepper. Sprinkle with tapioca. Add garlic, ketchup, Heinz 57 Sauce, tomato soup and 1 can of cold water. Mix well.Add remaining ingredients and mix. Cover and cook for 5 hours.
