FRENCHTOWN HISTORY

Our vineyard flag flies high on the highest part of the Buckley property in the heart of "Frenchtown", the name of the vineyard planted to the north of the flag.  This was one of the first settlements of the French trappers which inhabited this area in the mid-1800's.  This property is part of the land Joanne Dunham's family farmed since the late 1800's. This windy site is ideal for air flow for grapes and flag blowing.  The terrace was carved out of "blow sand", an ideal soil for this vineyard.  Ironically, the foundation for the flag was poured on 9-11-2001.
